SEVEN SINS – CINEMAGRAPH
Photograph + Cinema = Cinemagraph. The equation conveys a thought that even though photos and videos are two kind of things, we could actually mesh those two things together into a Cinemagraph. Its history could be traced back to 2011. The New York animation designer Kevin Burg and photographer Jamie Beck created this art together. A Cinemagraph is essentially an image where a small part of that image is moving. The time in the image seems to have been frozen, presenting a new visual experience that stimulates the human eye. Cinemagraph has great commercial value, since advertisers have great demand for it, such as Tiffany, Paris, Chanel and so on. Time magazine described Cinemagraph as: " This dichotomy creates moments that are quiet and contemplative, elevating the humble GIF into something much more refined."
About my Poster
In order to finish this assignment, I had to do research on what seven sins are. To have a better understanding of each of them, I looked for the movie Seven. After seeing the film, what I remembered the most is the Wrath from the hero. If it is triggered, no matter how noble, humble, self-disciplined, and kind the person is, it is irresistible. It is desperate, vulnerable and helpless when wrath happens.
1. The photo is being burned in the tray, which means that the wrath is kind of destroying everything.
2. The hand keeps pressing the water with a spoon, developing the photo and creating wrath, which means that everything is monitored and kept under control. No one could avoid the wrath.
3. The gun replaces the man’s eyes and brains, which apparently means that the man loses his mind under wrath.
4. Even though the developer is nonflammable, it could not prevent the fire from spreading, the tray is fraught with exasperated spirit.
5. The flame from the muzzle also represents that it may triggers the feelings of anger, revenge or fear. It also reaches out of the photo, which tells that everything happening in the gif is unreal, however, to some extent, they are too real to be fake.
6. All the lights, shadows, colors, keep telling us that the everything is dying.
